Application for the MA in Applied Design Research

Acceptance criteria

  • Documentation of completion of a design-related degree programme (bachelor’s degree or the German degree known as “Diplom”) with a grade of “good” or better, i.e. a grade point average of at least 2.5)
  • Documentation of participation in a degree programme with 210 ECTS points that included a minimum of 6 theoretical semesters of study and one practical semester (or a practicum that lasted at least 18 weeks)
  • If you have finished a degree programme with a minimum of 180 ECTS points, but have not yet completed a practice-based semester, you can make up this requirement during the first year of the degree programme.
  • For international applicants, documentation of German-language knowledge as demonstrated by level 2 of the German language examination for university entrance (DSH) or level 3 of the test of German as a foreign language (TestDaF)
  • Successful completion of the admission process (application via the application portal of the Munich University of Applied Sciences, submission of digital work samples via NINE, application interview)

Application process

  • Submission of application via the application portal of the Munich University of Applied Sciences during the application period: Input data, upload documents and transmit the application!
  • Registration and submission of digital work samples (portfolio) to the Department of Design during the application period: After registering, students can use the upload tool NINE to submit their work samples here. Changes to the submissions may be made during the entire application period.
  • Successful completion of the application interview
