Field of Teaching: »Illustration«
To truly understand an object, one must perceive it holistically—or, better yet, “feel” it. The “Illustration” course encourages students to observe their surroundings and reflect on them critically—while at the same time further developing their own drawing skills. Portrait drawing, in particular, trains students to translate their individual perceptions into drawings and requires a high degree of sensitivity—toward both themselves and others. The course covers both classical and contemporary approaches to drawing, allowing students to explore experimental as well as traditional techniques. Drawing is understood as a conceptual analytical tool that strengthens one’s own artistic expressiveness.
