Field of Teaching: »Systemic Design in the Context of Social Change and Transformative Processes«
“Systemic Design” views design as a tool for understanding and actively shaping social dynamics. In the courses, students learn how design can initiate transformative processes and support social change—from everyday urban life to the level of political decision-making. A key focus is on the “Design Futuring” approach, which explores possible futures in a creative way and makes them open to negotiation. Using the “Research through Design” method, knowledge is generated through the design process itself—this method is integrated into research projects addressing issues of participation, policy, and democracy in order to incorporate design processes with citizens and political actors in shaping the future.
