Individual thematic focal points.
The 3-semester master’s degree programme in applied design research begins with the summer semester each year. Approximately 15 students are admitted to the master’s degree programme each year. These students have already earned a bachelor’s degree or the German degree known as “Diplom”.
The project modules used in the first two semesters involve overarching assignments done by all students. The objective of these assignments is to further develop individual thematic focal points in both practical and theoretical areas and refine them during an interdisciplinary discourse. As part of their master’s degree project, students delve into a topic that they largely explore on their own in practical and/or theoretical terms. The primary aim of this project is experimentation, open-ended work and the development of new insights.
The master’s degree programme for applied design research concludes with the awarding of the academic degree “Master of Arts” (MA). Students who earn the degree are eligible for positions in higher civil service in Germany as well as qualify for admission to doctoral programmes.
